When we can not envision a victorious outcome in our present temptation, we succumb to the enemy’s suggestions. Sin not only brings defeat and thwarts our growth, but it also jeopardizes our access to God’s presence and power. Today, we will be challenged to accept new assumptions about our tests and temptations that will produce victorious outcomes. The old assumptions presently are: tests last forever, the devil doesn’t leave, and I can’t experience divine relief. After today, the new assumptions will be: my temptation has a definitive conclusion, the devil does not have a perpetual presence in my life, and I can experience divine refreshment.
