“My lover is mine, and I am his.”
Song of Solomon 2:16
In July, my husband and I were blessed to celebrate the wedding anniversary of dear friends in Negril, Jamaica. This 3-night getaway was a welcomed change from our usual rendezvous to local spots in the Bay Area. Being parents of five kids aged 12 to 2 years olds rarely lends itself to an extended couple vacation, but now that we’ve experienced this much alone time, I think we’ll be making “baecations” a thing around here.
“You are so handsome, my love, pleasing beyond words!”
Song of Solomon 1:16
Our digs for this midweek retreat was the lovely Sandals Negril, an all-inclusive luxury vacation. From the time we arrived for check-in to our departure, we had amazing food, access to plentiful water activities, white-sand beaches to enjoy, calm waters to wade in, and nightly events to attend right on the resort.
And since there were no children in sight at this adult only property, I treated every night like date night.
“There are three things that amaze me—no, four things that I don’t understand: how an eagle glides through the sky, how a snake slithers on a rock, how a ship navigates the ocean, how a man loves a woman.”
Proverbs 30:18-19
If you ever stay at Sandals Negril I highly recommend making reservations to the Sundowner restaurant for dinner, ordering jerk chicken pizza from Bella Napoli while you’re sunbathing, and having one meal at Barefoot by the Sea while the sun sets.
I didn’t taste one thing I didn’t like while there.
On one of our free days we decided to take a taxi to the famous Rick’s Cafe and have a swim and some lunch.
Another plus of being at Sandals was the talented photographers who took pictures during our stay. Special moments of your choice can be purchased from the photography office. We bought all of ours!
Our last evening was spent attending my dear friends’ vow renewal. The ceremony was elegantly themed and every detail was 5-star for our small party. We danced and danced and ate and danced. What a night!
During this romantic 3-day hiatus, I fell even more in love with my husband of 14 years. Every single moment was memorable, refreshing, and special.
I can’t wait to go back to Jamaica!
